GETTING STARTED

What is Makewrk?
Makewrk is a referral-reward tool for local service businesses. A worker sets a per-lead reward and gives an advocate a personal link. Each new customer who reaches out through it earns that reward. The worker is billed weekly.
Who is it for?
It is designed for plumbers, electricians, cleaners, handymen, landscapers, and other service businesses that already grow through customer recommendations.
Why not just run ads or buy leads?
Ads and bought leads send strangers price-shopping five contractors at once, and you pay for every click or lead whether or not it ever becomes a job. A Makewrk referral is pre-sold, and you pay only when a real customer contacts you. The reward goes to a loyal customer, not Google.
How do I get access?
Signup is self-service. Verify your mobile number, set up your worker card, and create an advocate link. Once your card is on file and your standing is good, links start counting new customers right away.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Workers and advocates use mobile-friendly web pages. Prospects use their normal text or phone app after opening a referral link.

HOW CONTACTS COUNT

What counts as a new customer?
A real new person who reaches out through the advocate's link. A page open or tap never counts. Starter texts carry a referral tag. When someone taps Text or Call on a Pro card, Makewrk normally uses a protected routing number, so calls and texts match automatically without a code. In the rare case that a phone has used the same shared number for two businesses, Makewrk asks for one quick verification call instead of guessing or counting the wrong contact.
What if the same person contacts me again?
The same phone number only counts once per worker. Recent callbacks to a Makewrk routing number stay with the first business and keep the conversation going. A saved routing number's binding expires after 90 days without use because routing numbers are shared. After 90 days, reopen the latest card and use its Text or Call button. Reopen the card for an old unsent text draft too, because drafts can expire sooner.
How quickly does a contact appear?
Usually right away. Carrier delays, provider hiccups, fraud checks, or the rare routing verification can delay delivery or counting. The dashboard updates after the contact is processed.
Can unclear activity be reviewed?
Yes, and it protects you. Duplicates, spam, or fraud are held for review, not counted, so you're never billed for a lead that isn't real. If our records show a miscount, we fix it. A tap alone never creates a payable contact.
What prevents fake or self-referrals?
Every contact runs through eligibility and fraud checks before it can count. A phone number counts only once per worker, taps and page opens never count, self-referrals and coordinated fake contacts don't qualify, and suspicious activity is held for review instead of being billed or rewarded.

REWARDS AND BILLING

When is the worker charged?
Nothing is charged up front. Each new customer accrues its reward plus the platform fee, and Makewrk charges your saved card once a week for that week's new customers. Starter adds 30% per lead; Pro adds only 10%.
Do I have to deposit money in advance?
No. There's no setup fee, no prepaid balance, and no upfront reward funding. You save a card, and Makewrk bills it weekly for the qualifying leads that actually counted — nothing else.
Does Makewrk take money out of the reward?
Never. Your customer always earns the full reward you set. Makewrk's 30% Starter fee (or 10% on Pro) is added on top of the reward on your weekly bill, not deducted from it.
Can I change my referral reward?
Yes, anytime, from Settings. A raise takes effect right away. A cut waits 24 hours — and your advocates get a text with the change date — so people who already shared your link aren't shortchanged.
What happens if my card fails?
Your links keep working and still reach you, but new contacts stop counting toward rewards while the balance is unresolved. Makewrk retries the charge on a set schedule; if it still can't collect, the account is suspended. The details are in the Reward and Refund Policy.
When is a reward earned?
Your advocate earns the per-lead reward the moment a new customer reaches out through their link and counts. There's no goal or cycle to complete. Every new customer earns it.
What if a new customer never comes?
Then you're never charged. You only pay for new customers who actually reach you. You never prepay for a lead, so there's nothing to refund.
Can I cap what I spend in a month?
Yes. Set a monthly cap in Settings; counting pauses once you reach it. Your links stay live and still reach you, but they stop counting. It resets on the 1st, and you can raise or remove the cap anytime.
How does an advocate receive a reward?
Each counted customer adds its reward to your advocate's earnings. After the weekly charge settles (about 7 days), we send it to their bank if payouts are set up, or hold it until they are. Bank transfer times still apply.
Does an advocate pay anything?
No. The worker pays the per-lead reward and platform fee. An advocate should never be asked to pay a fee to receive a legitimate Makewrk reward.

STARTER AND PRO

What is included with Starter?
Starter has no monthly charge. It provides worker and advocate cards, progress tracking, and inbound texts through a shared Makewrk number. Each per-lead reward adds the current Starter platform fee (30%).
What does Pro add?
Pro ($29/mo) lowers the per-lead platform fee to 10%, unlocks advanced analytics and code-free tracked calls and texts, and gives you a dedicated Makewrk calling identity for contact callbacks.
Can I reply from the dedicated number?
Pro workers can use the Call action in their dashboard to call a contact back from their dedicated Makewrk number. Makewrk rings you first; answer and press 1 to connect. Direct text and WhatsApp replies still come from your personal account and are not tracked by Makewrk.
Can I cancel Pro?
Yes. Cancellation normally takes effect after the billing period already paid for. Dedicated-number access and Pro analytics can end with the subscription, and counted leads go back to the Starter platform fee.
Is there a contract?
No. Starter has no subscription at all, and Pro is month-to-month — cancel anytime and keep access through the period you've paid for. You can also pause lead counting or set a monthly spend cap whenever you like.

FOR ADVOCATES

How does an advocate check progress?
The advocate signs in with their verified phone number and a one-time code. Their dashboard shows current progress and whether a reward is owed, processing, paid, or otherwise unresolved.
Does an advocate need to download anything?
No. The link and reward dashboard are web pages designed for a phone browser.
Does the advocate need payout setup?
Payout setup is needed for automatic provider transfers. Without it, an earned reward remains owed until setup is completed or Makewrk records an approved manual payment.
Can I get paid to an Israeli bank?
Yes. Choose a direct transfer on your payout page; once your cleared rewards reach $30, request a payout and we'll text you to arrange it.
Should an advocate disclose the reward?
Yes when applicable law or platform rules require disclosure of a compensated recommendation. Advocates should share truthful personal experiences and avoid spam or misleading claims.
